Digitization is also gaining ground in the hospitality industry

2020 has served to accelerate some processes that previously evolved more slowly. One of them is the digitalization process of any company. Communication through social networks, e-commerce or the use of artificial intelligence or Big Data.

The hospitality sector is no stranger to the changes that will take place in all areas, and according to some studies, the paradigm shift is already beginning to be seen. According to Valentín Bote, director of Randstad Research, employment in tourism “will recover at the same rate as the health situation”, although he believes that the current tourism model will turn towards a “less massified and more niche” model. A shift that will undoubtedly affect the hospitality sector and open up new business opportunities.

Restaurants, bars and cafeterias have a lot to say in this situation. It is this type of business that has led the reactivation of the entire tourism sector. The Horeca Market NewReality report by the consulting firm Uve reveals how restaurants and bars/cafeterias have acted as drivers of the sector’s momentum, with 83% and 80.4% of reopenings, respectively. The options brought by digitalization, together with the extension of the ERTES gives a breath of fresh air to the sector, which is crucial in the national economic system.

The entire hospitality sector is demonstrating its capacity for effort and adaptation, as seen in the increase in take away and delivery, lines of business that will continue to grow in the coming years. Subsectors in which Yelow has also bet on with its new line of ecological packaging both for food collection on the premises and for home delivery.

In Yelow we have also opted for digitization in all our processes in order to facilitate the shopping experience for all our customers.
